Vistra and Monterey County officials confirmed that all site personnel had been evacuated without injuries. As the fire raged out of control on Thursday, producing large flames and hazardous black smoke, local authorities emphasized the seriousness of the situation. “It’s imperative that residents heed the evacuation order and take the direction of law enforcement and fire personnel,” Monterey County spokesman Nicholas Pasculli stated. Approximately 1,500 people were ordered to evacuate from the affected regions.
