Investing.com -- U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Tuesday that talks on the USMCA trade pact are currently underway with Mexico but have proven more challenging with Canada.
Speaking to Fox Business Network, Greer indicated that negotiations will continue bilaterally with both nations.
Greer also clarified that discussions regarding the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which connects Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, are separate from the USMCA negotiations.
"This negotiation is specific to the bridge," Greer said.
The clarification comes after U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to prevent the opening of the new $4.7 billion bridge in his latest trade dispute with Canada.
