American Airlines to resume Venezuela service

Investing.com -- American Airlines is planning to resume service to Venezuela from the United States for the first time since 2019, following the recent U.S. capture of Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro.

The carrier would become the first U.S. airline to restart flights to the South American nation, which has seen reduced international air service in recent years due to ongoing unrest.

"American will share additional details about its return to service in the coming months as it works closely with federal authorities on all necessary permissions and security assessments prior to resuming service," the company announced Thursday.

American Airlines previously suspended its Venezuela operations in March 2019 after its pilots' union instructed members to refuse assignments to the country.
