The Market's 'Miracle on 34th Street'

S&P's Senior Index Analyst Howard Silverblatt had some fun number facts about today's new S&P 500 closing high, the 34th of the year.
From Howard:
Another all-time closing and intraday high: today’s 1782.00 close replaces the old closing high of 1771.95 set on October 29, and is also the new intraday high, replacing the 1775.22 set on October 30 (for the record: the official intraday and closing high is 1782.00)
There have been 34 new closing highs this year, and Macy's (NYSE: M), as in 34th street, was the best issue of the day, up 9.4%
There have been 1,020 new closing highs since 1928, and I've been at S&P for 546 of them, 53.3%
From 1930 through 1953 there were no new closing highs
Breadth is near a modern day record; YTD 446 are up and 52 are down, with 221 up 30%, 134 up 40%, and 79 up at least 50%.
