Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk in the National Spotlight

Shares of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) are higher today (+3.7%) amid news the company will put titanium shields on the underbelly of the Model S sedan to prevent any futures fires. In related news, the NHTSA closed an investigation tied to the fires. In addition to today's positive news, traders could be positioning in the stock ahead of a 60 Minutes report on CEO Elon Musk on Sunday.

In a tease on the upcoming segment, 60 Minutes said: "So many boys dream of fast cars and rocket ships, but few actually grow up to build them and change the world in the process like Elon Musk. Scott Pelley reports on the billionaire Silicon Valley entrepreneur."

Not only could the 60 Minutes piece be a positive for sentiment on Tesla, but possibly Musk's other company SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY) - which is rising 3% today on an upgrade at Raymond James.

In addition to the Tesla piece, traders may want to tune into 60 Minutes this weekend as another hot topic will be discussed - HFT.

According to the tease, Steve Kroft reports on a new book from Michael Lewis that reveals how a group of unlikely characters discovered how some high speed traders work the stock market to their advantage. Draggan Mihailovich is the producer."
