T-Mobile US (NYSE: TMUS) is looking to retain more BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) customers and offering an incentive to do so. And, in some ways, it's also testing BlackBerry loyalty.
A back-and-forth of sorts has been brewing between BlackBerry CEO John Chen and T-Mobile CEO John Legere over the last few days. It ended up with Chen posting a letter expressing outrage at Legere for encouraging BlackBerry users to switch devices to something with iOS or Android.
On Wednesday, T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert posted a letter to the company's website with a new offer for BlackBerry users.
The offer will provide BlackBerry users $200 to use toward a handset upgrade and, if the user opts to go with a new BlackBerry Q10 or Z10, they'll get an additional $50.
Basically, the offer is to see who will stick with BlackBerry on their next upgrade.
Legere did note on Twitter that 2/3 of BlackBerry users switch on upgrade. Also, this:
Ouch.
Shares of BlackBerry and T-Mobile are both positive Thursday.

Was going to engage John Chen on Twitter, but turns out he’s not here. I'll check MySpace. Don’t worry @BlackBerry Something in the works!
