Sina (SINA) May Enter Mobile Messaging Partnership with China's 'Apple'

Sina Corp. (Nasdaq: SINA) is ticking higher Monday amid chatter that it' might be in ta new pact with smartphone maker Xiaomi.
According to reports, the two will combine their messing apps to take on Tencent's Weixin. Sina runs Meyou while Xiaomi has Miliao. The deal is said to be announced some time this week.
Xiaomi is said to be the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) of China, with it founder acting much like the late Steve Jobs and the company's smartphone devices striking a similar appearance to the iPhone.
Mobile messaging has been a hot topic of late, with Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) recently rumored to have taken an affinity for WhatsApp, a messaging service for Android and iOS in the U.S.
Sina runs the mega-popular microblogging site Weibo in China. Shares are up over 3.5 percent.
