Amid reports to the contrary previously, people still love the iPhone on AT&T.
According to reports and quarterly data, AT&T (NYSE: T) sold more of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone than rival Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) in the quarter. While Verizon got rid of 2.3 million iPhone 4 units last quarter, AT&T moved 1.3 million more units, at 3.9 million total.
AT&T's number includes an exclusivity with the $49 iPhone 3GS, which more than likely bolstered numbers. There was no breakdown from AT&T between the iPhone 3GS and 4 model available.
Further, of the total, about 24 percent were new subs for AT&T with the iPhone.
Apple's iPhone 3GS wasn't updated to be compatible with Verizon's CDMA network, meaning AT&T's exclusivity goes beyond a paper contract.
