Microsoft (MSFT) Trades Higher Ahead of Rare Analyst Meeting

September 19, 2013 10:03 AM EDT
Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) stock is up in early trading Thursday as the company is slated to hold a analyst meeting in Redmond, WA, later today.

AllThingsD notes that the meeting, which will start at 1pm PDT, is the first for Microsoft and analysts in two years. Media will not be allowed into the event, but there will be a webcast. The meeting will run about four hours.

Expected speakers include CEO Steve Ballmer, CFO Amy Hood, and COO Kevin Turner.

The meeting is being held as Microsoft recently announced a massive executive reorganization, Ballmer will step down within the next year, and as the company recently announced a large deal to acquire Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) Devices & Services unit (along with various patent licensing rights). Microsoft will attempt to woo analysts and convince them that this isn't the Microsoft of yesteryear, known largely for Xbox and Windows and not much else.

The website for the meeting can be accessed here.

Shares of Microsoft are up 0.9 percent.
