It's Going to Be an Amazon (AMZN) Christmas

November 28, 2011 10:19 AM EST
Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is killing it so far this holiday season and investors are noticing.

Shares of the online retailing giant are up nearly 6 percent early Monday after data showed strong sales results on Black Friday and over the weekend, leading into today's Cyber Monday.

According to data from comScore, Amazon.com was the most visited retail website on Black Friday, with 50 percent more visitors than any other retailer. The site also marked the strongest growth rate versus last year.

Black Friday was the best ever for the company's Kindle lineup, with sales up fourfold from last year. Sales of the new Kindle Fire remained the bestselling product across the entire site.

The company said they are seeing many customers buying multiple Kindles – "one for themselves and others as gifts." They expect this trend to continue on Cyber Monday and through the holiday shopping season. In addition to online sales, the Kindle Fire was the bestselling tablet in Target (NYSE: TGT) stores on Black Friday.
