With the housing market continuing to rebound, what's a one-off play that won't leave you directly exposure to the minute bumps along the way?
The answer might lie within Weyerhaeuser Co. (NYSE: WY). CEO Dan Fulton spoke with Jim Cramer on Wednesday.
Fulton said that Weyerhaeuser has a key position in the overall housing market, not just because it owns acres of timberlands, but because it also produces building products and is also a home builder. Recent gains in the California market have been a big benefit for the company.
Along with directly building homes, Weyerhaeuser is also in the repair and remodeling business and has construction exposure overseas in markets like Japan, China, and Korea.
Fulton also noted that pulp prices are "firming," but the price of lumber remains high given the capacity in the market. He noted that some places are still seeing a tight lumber supply amid segment moves to bring capacity back online.
Cramer remains a bull on Weyerhaeuser after first recommending the stock in July 2010. He expects shares to keep moving higher over the next few years.
