Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) is looking pressured Wednesday following news that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) added the ability to gift via its iBookstore platform.
CNET noted that gifting books can be scheduled for specific dates, but is limited to those in the same country as there's currently no support for international gifting.
The move mimics that of Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), which has allowed Kindle books to be gifted for years.
Barnes & Noble also allows books to be gifted via its NOOK platform.
