Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN) Shares Tick Lower on Microsoft/B&N Deal

Following the NOOK deal between Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS), the stocks of several rivals are ticking lower Monday morning.

Down in pre-market trade are: iPad maker Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN).

NOOK currently runs on Google's Android mobile OS and Amazon makes the Android-based Kindle series of e-Readers, including the colorful Kindle Fire.

Also of note, a broader version of a Microsoft/B&N deal with Microsoft simply scooping up B&N was mulled last January. The advantage of a full-on acquisition by Microsoft would be the ability to get broader brick-and-mortar exposure in an effort to create a solid physical presence to rival Apple stores.

Barnes & Noble shares have nearly doubled early Monday morning while Microsoft shares are also trading higher.
