Apple's (AAPL) iPhone Routs Competition in U.S., Most of Europe

New comScore (Nasdaq: SCOR) data out Friday shows some surprising numbers for mobile phone sales in the U.S. and EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK).

Guess who's winning? That's right...Apple!. According to the survey Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) held the top three spots of acquired mobile phones in the U.S. Data was an aggregate of purchases from January through December 2011. The top three U.S. Apple devices were:
  1. iPhone 4
  2. iPhone 3GS
  3. iPhone 4S
Okay, so that's not toosurprising. What is surprising: the fourth-place finisher was Research In Motion's (Nasdaq: RIMM) BlackBerry Curve 8580. It almost disproves BlackBerry is falling out of favor in the U.S. Almost.

HTC's EVO 4G cracked the top five as well.

For the EU5, Apple's iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS nabbed the top two spots, while iPhone 4S came in fifth. Sandwiched between was Samsung, with its Galaxy Ace S5830 and Galaxy S II coming in third and fourth, respectively.

No RIMM in the EU5 top five, surprisingly.

Apple shares are up 0.7 percent Friday while RIM is nearly a percent better.
