According to Digitimes Friday, Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle Fire maker Quanta Computer has shipped about 3 to 4 million units of the tablet. The guesstimate comes from several industry watchers.
Digitimes notes sources said Amazon has increased orders, and aims for shipments of 5 million by the end of December or early January.
Winitek, one of the Fire's panel suppliers, recently raised internal estimates, and is modeling for shipments of 3 to 3.5 million Fire panels through early January.
Some suppliers have said components have been building up, but that may be due to Quanta, et al, keeping shipments regular to avoid piling up their own inventory.
