Amazon (AMZN) Buying Netflix (NFLX) Probably Won't Happen Now

Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) isn't playing nice.

Earlier in Wednesday's session, the Seattle, WA-based e-tailer said it struck a deal to stream CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS) shows. Although the agreement is non-exclusive, this puts yet another chink in Netflix's (Nasdaq: NFLX) armor, and is another step away from Amazon acquiring Netflix.

Netflix signed a deal with CBS last February, but this new deal puts Amazon's library at 8,000 movies and shows, closing in on Amazon's 20,000 movies and shows at a rapid click. The CBS deal bolstered Amazon's offerings by 33 percent, adding 2,000 movies and shows to the stable.

Further, Amazon is also separating itself from rival Hulu, which is co-owned by Comcast's (Nasdaq: CMCSA) NBCUniversal, News Corp (Nasdaq: NWSA), Disney (NYSE: DIS), Providence Equity Partners, and the Hulu team. Hulu recently has been rumored to be fielding takeover bids.
