Amazon (AMZN) Brings Bare-Bones Prime Service to Canada

Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is finally brining its Prime service to Canada, just eight years after launching in the U.S.

According to reports out today, Amazon launched its Prime service in the Great White North (a.k.a. - Canada) following the opening of its second distribution center in Delta, British Colombia.

The service will cost the same as in the U.S., about $79 per year. Aside from two-day shipping (unless you live in an extraordinarily rural area), there isn't much to Prime. Canada won't have the Instant Video feature, nor will Kindle Owners be able to access the Kindle Lending Library.

Still, if you order a lot from Amazon, the cost will pay for itself in mere months. For $3.99 per item, there is even a one-day shipping option.

Inclusive of Canada, Prime is now running in eight markets.

Amazon shares are down 0.9 percent Tuesday after reaching an new all-time high of $269.73 on Monday.
