Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jet developer, Lilium N.V. (NASDAQ: LILM) announced Tuesday that it has begun assembly of the company’s revolutionary electric propulsion system for its Lilium Jet. The assembly is taking place at Lilium’s dedicated propulsion facility in Wessling, Germany.
“The start of propulsion assembly represents a significant step towards industrializing the Lilium Jet.” Said COO Yves Yemsi.
CEO, Klaus Roewe commented: “Today’s announcement brings us one big step closer to the dawn of a new, sustainable jet era.”
During the initial assembly stage, the moving components of the propulsion system, which encompass the shaft, magnets, and titanium compressor fan, are put together, and joined with the corresponding stationary elements like the e-motor stator and guide vanes. In the upcoming phase scheduled for later this year, the electric engines will be incorporated into the Lilium Jet's propulsion mounting system.
In July of this year, Lilium successfully conducted tests on a full-scale prototype of the Lilium Jet's fan and stator at Jetpel's facilities in Germany. These tests validated the fan design's strong and reliable operational characteristics.
Shares of LILM are down 3.23% near end of day trading on Tuesday.
