Akasa Air orders 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets

India's rapidly expanding airline, Akasa Air, announced that it ordered 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

This announcement was made at WINGS India 2024, and encompasses both 737 MAX 10 and 737 MAX 8-200 models. The order also secures a consistent supply of aircraft for Akasa Air until 2032.

The airline, marking a historic milestone, becomes the first in Indian civil aviation history to accumulate an order book exceeding 200 aircraft within 17 months of commencing operations.

Boeing (NYSE: BA) stock rose 1.8% on the news.

“This large and historic aircraft order puts Akasa on a path of becoming one of the top 30 leading airlines in the world, by the turn of this decade. Akasa’s remarkable growth testifies the sheer promise that India holds as an aviation market, and we are thrilled to be a part of this journey,” said Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air.
