United Homes Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: UHG) reported mixed operational results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2025, with net new orders declining while home starts increased significantly year-over-year.

The homebuilder reported 324 net new orders in the third quarter, down 5.0% from 341 orders in the same period last year. For the nine-month period, net new orders totaled 924, representing an 11.8% decrease from 1,048 orders in 2024.

Home starts showed stronger performance with 526 starts in the third quarter, up 65.9% from 317 starts in the prior year period. Nine-month starts reached 1,131, marking a 20.3% increase from 940 starts in 2024.

Home closings declined to 262 in the third quarter, down 29.0% from 369 closings in the same quarter last year. Nine-month closings totaled 817, down 19.7% from 1,017 closings in 2024.

The company's total inventory as of September 30, 2025, stood at 723 homes, up 6.2% from 681 homes a year earlier. This included 264 homes in backlog, 413 speculative homes, and 46 model homes.

"Net new orders declined 5% year-over-year in the third quarter primarily reflecting weaker demand in July, which improved sequentially in August and September," stated Chief Executive Officer Jack Micenko.

Chief Financial Officer Keith Feldman noted that sales were impacted by delayed community openings earlier in the year. The company reached 56 communities as of September 30, 2025, and expects continued community count growth through year-end.

United Homes Group operates as a residential builder focused on southeastern markets including South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The company employs a land-light operating strategy, controlling lot supply through option contracts rather than owning raw land.
