Old Dominion reports November revenue decline amid softer demand

December 2, 2025 5:16 PM EST

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. (NASDAQ: ODFL) reported a 4.4% decrease in revenue per day for November 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, according to a company statement.

The Thomasville, North Carolina-based less-than-truckload carrier attributed the decline to a 10.0% decrease in LTL tons per day, which was partially offset by an increase in LTL revenue per hundredweight. The tonnage decrease resulted from a 9.4% drop in LTL shipments per day and a 0.6% decrease in LTL weight per shipment.

For the quarter-to-date period, LTL revenue per hundredweight increased 5.9%, while LTL revenue per hundredweight excluding fuel surcharges rose 5.2% compared to the same period last year.

"Old Dominion's revenue results for November reflect ongoing softness in the domestic economy, which contributed to a decrease in our volumes," said Marty Freeman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Freeman noted that the company continued to deliver service supporting yield management initiatives and the ability to increase LTL revenue per hundredweight.

The company operates as one of the largest North American LTL motor carriers, providing regional, inter-regional and national LTL services through service centers located throughout the continental United States. Old Dominion also offers value-added services including container drayage, truckload brokerage and supply chain consulting.
