Costco reports 8% September sales increase to $26.58 billion

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) reported net sales of $26.58 billion for September, representing an 8.0% increase from $24.62 billion in the same period last year, according to a company statement.

The retailer's comparable sales for the five-week period ended October 5, 2025, showed growth across all regions. U.S. comparable sales increased 5.1%, while Canada posted 6.3% growth and other international markets grew 8.5%. Total company comparable sales rose 5.7%.

Digitally-enabled sales, which includes all sales delivered to members initiated through digital devices and Costco Travel, increased 26.1%. The company changed its metric from "ecommerce comparable sales" to "digitally-enabled" comparable sales starting with this report.

When excluding impacts from gasoline price changes and foreign exchange fluctuations, comparable sales showed similar patterns with the U.S. at 5.0%, Canada at 9.3%, and other international markets at 7.5%. Total company comparable sales excluding these factors increased 6.0%, while digitally-enabled sales grew 26.3%.

The company noted that last year's sales benefited from increased consumer activity related to Hurricane Helene and port strikes, which boosted sales by approximately 2% in the U.S. and 1.5% worldwide.

Costco operates 914 warehouses globally, including 629 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 110 in Canada, and 175 in other international markets. The company also operates e-commerce sites in eight countries.
