Time Names Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Person of the Year

Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has been named Time magazine's "Person of the Year" for his creation of a new system for information sharing and for changing how people live.
“There is an erosion of trust in authority, a decentralizing of power and at the same time, perhaps, a greater faith in one another,” Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel said. “More than anyone else on the world stage, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is at the center of those changes.”
Zuckerberg created Facebook while he was a sophomore at Harvard University, as a way for students to interact with one another without having to interact. Once the Website was opened to those outside of higher education, it became the world's most popular social network.
Other int he running for the honor included the Tea Party movement, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, and founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange.
Last year's winner was Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, who was preceded by President Barack Obama.
