Jefferies analyst Andrew Andersen downgraded Kinsale Capital (NYSE: KNSL) from Hold to Underperform with a price target of $312.00 (from $392.00).

The analyst comments: "E&S growth is rolling over and history points to a multi-year slowdown, pressuring KNSL just as industry competition/capital limit re-hardening. Growth increasingly depends on casualty, but pricing momentum has moderated and mix shift creates margin headwinds as rate/reserve tailwinds fade. With ROE discipline prioritized over volume, growth and margins skew lower. Valuation remains too high. Premium should compress as the cycle turns. PT $312 (12% downside).

Historically, once E&S growth falls to single digits, the industry has averaged roughly 1-2% CAGR over the following three years, with soft markets often lasting multiple years. The E&S market slowed to ~8% in 2025 with 2H25 growth of 3%. Strong industry capital levels and favorable reinsurance dynamics further reduce the likelihood of a near-term re-hardening, setting a challenging growth backdrop for KNSL just as the cycle rolls over."
