Wrap Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP) conducted what it described as the first air-to-air interdiction using its BolaWrap entanglement technology in partnership with Vector in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The test involved Wrap's MERLIN-Interdictor payload and BolaWrap 150 Kevlar tether system deployed on Vector's Hammer drone platform. The system successfully neutralized a moving aerial target mid-flight using entanglement rather than explosives or electronic warfare methods.
"Our successful test with Wrap marks a breakthrough for non-lethal counter-UAS capabilities," said Andy Yakulis, CEO and Co-Founder of Vector. "The Wrap system quickly integrated with our Hammer drone platform, and together we demonstrated an effective and scalable solution that can redefine how we think about CUAS-as-a-service in domestic defense and current front-line battlefield operations."
The demonstration represents an expansion of Wrap's ground-based non-lethal technology into aerial defense applications. The company positions the system as a platform-agnostic solution for law enforcement, federal agencies, and military applications.
Wrap operates a manufacturing and research facility in Virginia and has been advancing production readiness for counter-unmanned aerial system programs. The company's BolaWrap technology is currently used by over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries.
Vector was founded by former special operations personnel and focuses on small unmanned aerial systems and counter-UAS services for law enforcement and military applications.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
