Wingstop Inc. (NASDAQ: WING) opened its 3,000th restaurant globally, marking a milestone in the company's expansion efforts, according to a company statement.
The Dallas-based restaurant chain reached this number by opening nearly 800 restaurants over the past two years, expanding its global footprint by 50% during that period. The company entered six new markets: Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and The Netherlands.
Wingstop now operates in 47 U.S. states and 15 countries. The company plans to open locations in Thailand, Italy and Ireland as part of its expansion strategy.
"We've scaled from 2,000 to 3,000 restaurants in just over two years, with proven runway in our domestic and international businesses," said Michael Skipworth, Wingstop's President and CEO.
The company reported that more than 70 brand partners expanded their Wingstop presence in the most recent quarter. Wingstop operates with 98% of its total restaurant count owned by franchisees.
Founded in 1994, Wingstop reported approximately $5 billion in system-wide sales in fiscal 2024 and has recorded 21 consecutive years of same-store sales growth, according to the company statement.
