Wabtec completes acquisition of Sweden-based Dellner Couplers

Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) announced it has completed the acquisition of Dellner Couplers, a Sweden-based manufacturer of train connection systems and services for passenger rail rolling stock.

Dellner Couplers operates as a manufacturer of couplers and gangways for passenger rail vehicles, with facilities in 13 countries serving over 200 customers. The company has an installed base of approximately 100,000 couplers and 12,500 gangways globally, according to the press release.

"The addition of Dellner Couplers marks a major step forward in strengthening our Transit business and expanding our portfolio of offerings for this segment," said Rafael Santana, President and CEO of Wabtec.

The acquired company employs over 1,200 people across 17 offices worldwide and has operated in the rail industry for 85 years. Dellner Couplers provides manufacturing, assembly and aftermarket services for train connection systems to rolling stock manufacturers, operators, and maintenance providers.

Wabtec operates as a provider of equipment, systems and services for freight and transit rail industries, as well as mining, marine and industrial markets. The company is based in Pittsburgh and has been publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

"The strength of Dellner Couplers' management team and industry-leading solutions will accelerate our growth strategy in the passenger rail market," said Pascal Schweitzer, President of Wabtec Transit.

The transaction adds train connection technology to Wabtec's transit portfolio. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in the announcement.
