UL Solutions launches AI safety certification services

November 3, 2025 11:58 AM EST

UL Solutions Inc. (NYSE: ULS) announced the launch of artificial intelligence safety certification services for AI-powered products. The Northbrook, Illinois-based safety science company said the new service will provide comprehensive assessments evaluating AI product safety.

The certification testing will be guided by UL 3115, the Outline of Investigation for Safety of AI-Based Products, published October 31. This framework establishes certification requirements for AI-driven innovations and serves as safety criteria for emerging technologies that lack established UL Standards.

Products meeting UL 3115 requirements through testing and assessments may earn the UL Mark, indicating compliance with safety requirements. The assessments will focus on robustness, reliability, transparency, accountability, privacy, fairness, safety, security and freedom from bias.

"Establishing the safety of AI-embedded products is absolutely vital for fostering public confidence and helping ensure the responsible and widespread adoption of beneficial AI technologies," said Jennifer Scanlon, president and CEO of UL Solutions.

UL 3115 evaluates AI innovation adherence to internationally recognized standards such as ISO/IEC and assists with compliance to emerging regulatory frameworks. The company said it observes increasing numbers of products incorporating advanced AI capabilities, including devices that learn and improve performance autonomously and through wireless updates.

Beyond safety certification, UL Solutions offers advisory services for responsible AI adoption in product development and an AI Marketing Claim Verification service that confirms transparency of underlying AI models in customers' AI-powered products.

The company provides AI-related services across the entire product lifecycle from concept and design through development, deployment and operation.
