Progressive reports November 2025 financial results

The Progressive Corporation (NYSE: PGR) reported November 2025 financial results showing mixed performance compared to the same period last year.
Net premiums written increased 11% to $6.19 billion from $5.56 billion in November 2024. Net premiums earned rose 14% to $6.89 billion from $6.04 billion in the prior year period.
Net income declined 5% to $958 million, or $1.63 per share, compared to $1.01 billion, or $1.71 per share, in November 2024. The company's combined ratio was 87.1%, up 1.5 percentage points from 85.6% in the previous year.
Total pretax net realized gains on securities decreased 82% to $32 million from $175 million in November 2024.
Policies in force grew across all business segments. Total policies increased 11% to 38.4 million from 34.7 million in November 2024. Personal lines policies rose 11% to 37.2 million, driven by 14% growth in direct auto policies to 15.9 million and 10% growth in agency auto policies to 10.7 million.
Commercial lines policies increased 5% to 1.2 million from 1.1 million in the prior year period.
The Mayfield Village, Ohio-based insurer operates as the second largest personal auto insurer in the United States and offers coverage for personal and commercial vehicles, motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, and homes.
