Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) announced enhancements to its Oracle AI Database designed to improve availability and security for mission-critical workloads. The company introduced two availability tiers: Platinum-tier for general mission-critical applications and Diamond-tier for ultra-critical workloads.
The Platinum-tier availability delivers disaster failover times under 30 seconds for multi-node clusters, representing what Oracle claims is up to 4X faster performance than Oracle Database 19c. This tier requires no application changes and is available at no additional charge through software upgrades to Oracle AI Database 26ai and Exadata.
Diamond-tier availability targets applications requiring extreme uptime, offering failover times typically under three seconds with zero data loss. This tier uses active-active distributed clusters through Oracle GoldenGate or Oracle Globally Distributed AI Database technologies.
The enhanced database includes new security features addressing quantum computing and AI-driven threats. Oracle Deep Data Security provides centralized authorization and data visibility policies within the database. The system supports post-quantum cryptography with NIST-approved quantum-resistant algorithms and AES-256 encryption.
Oracle introduced Database Security Central for on-premises database protection, offering centralized monitoring of user risk and sensitive data exposure. The Zero Data Loss Recovery solutions provide ransomware protection with policy-based immutable backups and granular access control.
"Oracle Database today powers over 90 percent of the world's largest enterprises," said Juan Loaiza, executive vice president of Oracle AI Database Technologies. The enhancements are available across cloud and on-premises environments.
Oracle announced these features at its Oracle AI World Tour event in New York. The company stated that its database currently serves tens of thousands of enterprises globally requiring high availability and throughput for critical operations.
