NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE) announced it has joined the Canadian Nuclear Association, the country's nuclear industry advocacy group established in 1960.
The company is developing microreactor technologies, including its KRONOS MMR Energy System, which it aims to bring to Canada. NANO Nuclear has begun site-specific engineering preparations for the project and seeks to establish a demonstration site at Chalk River, Ontario, in collaboration with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.
"We're pleased to welcome NANO Nuclear Energy to the Canadian Nuclear Association. Their focus on advanced microreactor technologies aligns with Canada's growing leadership in innovative and scalable nuclear solutions," said George Christidis, CEO and President of the Canadian Nuclear Association.
According to the CNA, nuclear technology in Canada prevents 80 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually and supplies 50% of the global cobalt-60 used in medical treatments and equipment sterilization.
Jay Yu, founder and chairman of NANO Nuclear, stated the company aims to become the first North American commercially licensed microreactor technology company. The membership positions NANO Nuclear to contribute to Canada's nuclear energy development.
NANO Nuclear operates through multiple subsidiaries focusing on portable microreactor technologies, nuclear fuel fabrication and transportation, space applications, and consulting services. The company's reactor products in development include the KRONOS MMR system currently in pre-application engagement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
