Microchip launches PIC32-BZ6 single-chip wireless platform

October 21, 2025 8:10 AM EDT

Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP) announced the release of its PIC32-BZ6 MCU, a single-chip platform designed to reduce development complexity for multiprotocol wireless products.

The microcontroller unit replaces traditional multichip solutions by integrating wireless connectivity, analog peripherals, and touch capabilities on a single chip. The device supports Bluetooth Core Specification 6.0 and 802.15.4-based protocols including Thread and Matter.

Key specifications include 2 MB Flash memory, 512 KB RAM, and availability in 132-pin integrated circuits and modules. The platform features multiple connectivity options including two CAN-FD ports, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet MAC, and USB 2.0 full-speed transceiver.

For motor control applications, the MCU includes 12-bit ADCs, 7-bit DAC, analog comparators, PWMs and QEI components. Touch interface capabilities extend to 18 channels using Capacitive Voltage Divider technology.

The device incorporates security features including immutable secure boot in ROM and hardware-based encryption supporting AES, SHA, ECC and TRNG protocols. The MCU meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 specifications for operation in temperatures up to 125°C.

Two initial products are available: the PIC32CX2051BZ62132 System on Chip priced at $3.73 per unit and the PIC32WM-BZ6204UE RF-certified module at $5.84 per unit, both in 10,000-unit quantities. Additional package and module variants are planned for future release.

Development support includes the PIC32-BZ6 Curiosity Board, MPLAB Integrated Development Environment, and Zephyr Real Time Operating System compatibility. The company offers chip-down reference designs and pre-certified modules for multiple global regions.
