Mars, Incorporated completed its acquisition of Kellanova (NYSE: K), adding brands including Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Rice Krispies Treats, RXBAR and Kellogg's international cereal brands to its portfolio.
The transaction combines Mars' existing snacking and confectionery brands such as SNICKERS, M&M'S, TWIX, DOVE, SKITTLES and EXTRA with Kellanova's portfolio. Mars announced the definitive agreement on August 14, 2024, with Kellanova shareowner approval received November 1, 2024, and regulatory approvals completed December 8, 2024.
"United by more than a century of pioneering new categories and building iconic brands, Mars and Kellanova are joining forces to shape the future of snacking," said Andrew Clarke, Global President of Mars Snacking.
The combined entity will operate as Mars Snacking with more than 50,000 associates and partners globally. Kellanova brings billion-dollar brands Pringles, Cheez-It and Kellogg's to Mars' existing billion-dollar brand portfolio. The acquisition also expands Mars' Accelerator division with brands including RXBAR, Nutri-Grain bars and Special K bars.
Mars is a family-owned company operating in pet care, snacking and food sectors. The acquisition represents Mars' expansion in the snacking category through the addition of Kellanova's established brand portfolio and international presence.
