MakeMyTrip launches multilingual AI trip planning assistant

August 7, 2025 5:43 AM EDT

MakeMyTrip Limited (NASDAQ: MMYT) announced the launch of its GenAI-enabled Trip Planning Assistant, an upgrade to its existing AI agent Myra that enables voice and text interactions in multiple languages.

The beta version is currently available in English and Hindi, with plans to expand to additional Indian languages. The assistant allows users to make complex travel queries and receive personalized responses based on real-time availability and pricing.

Users can ask questions such as "Where can I go in August for a relaxing holiday with my kids?" or "Mujhe Udaipur mein 3-star hotel 3500 ke budget mein chahiye" and move from query to confirmed booking within the same conversational interface.

The system operates across multiple travel categories including flights, accommodation, holidays, ground transport, visas, and foreign exchange. It supports multimodal input through text, voice, image, and video, along with continuous dialogue and itinerary editing capabilities.

"We have always believed that technology is at its best when it solves complex problems behind the scenes, while making the customer interface as intuitive and as delightful as possible," said Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip.

Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO at MakeMyTrip, described the system as "one of the most ambitious tech builds" undertaken by the company, noting that custom language models were developed in-house and integrated with planning and verification systems.

MakeMyTrip first integrated GenAI into its booking experience in 2023. The company operates brands including MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, and redBus, serving more than 83.2 million lifetime transacted users over its 25-year history.

Future development phases will introduce enhanced semantic search capabilities and AI-driven features for images and videos, allowing users to interact through more abstract, intent-based queries.
