Keysight and MediaTek advance pre-6G sensing technology

Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) and MediaTek have demonstrated integrated sensing and communication technology for future 6G networks that merges data transmission and sensing within a single radio framework.

The collaboration addresses current limitations in wireless networks where sensing functions typically require dedicated time slots, reducing overall spectrum efficiency. The companies' approach enables radar sensing and data transmission to operate simultaneously without compromising quality or throughput.

The demonstration uses MediaTek's MT2706 chipset combined with Keysight's Network Emulation Solutions to show how radio resources can be shared more efficiently. The technology is designed to inform the 6G integrated sensing and communication effort in 3GPP, the global standards organization for mobile communications.

"Integrating sensing into the radio interface provides a novel cost-efficiency advantage while sustaining network performance," said Mingxi Fan, Senior General Manager of Wireless Technology Group at MediaTek. "By using MediaTek MT2706 and sparse radar resource pattern framework combined with Keysight's advanced network emulation solutions and MediaTek's 5G dynamic resource allocation, we successfully demonstrated how ISAC can be further advanced in 6G."

Peng Cao, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight's Wireless Test Group, said the collaboration demonstrates how industry partnerships are accelerating 6G innovation by combining complementary expertise and technologies.

The companies will present their work at the Brooklyn 6G Summit from November 5-7, 2025. The technology aims to enable devices to communicate and sense their surroundings using the same radio channel, potentially providing capacity and cost benefits for network operators.
