September 23, 2025 9:03 AM EDT

HARMAN International, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., announced it has completed the acquisition of Sound United from Masimo Corporation (NASDAQ: MASI). The transaction adds eight audio brands to HARMAN's portfolio including Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, HEOS, Classé, and Boston Acoustics.

Sound United will operate as a standalone Strategic Business Unit within HARMAN's Lifestyle Division. The acquisition expands HARMAN's presence in home audio, electronics, headphones, and car audio product categories.

"Sound United's impressive roster of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation, and commitment to quality that aligns with HARMAN's own values," said Dave Rogers, President of HARMAN's Lifestyle Division.

The company stated that each acquired brand will maintain its heritage and customer base while gaining access to HARMAN's global resources. HARMAN designs connected products for automotive, consumer, and enterprise markets and operates brands including AKG, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, and Revel.

HARMAN became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics in March 2017. The company reports that more than 50 million automobiles currently use HARMAN audio and connected car systems, and employs approximately 30,000 people across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Sound United was previously the consumer audio business division of medical technology company Masimo Corporation.
