CleanSpark names co-founder Matt Schultz as CEO

August 11, 2025 7:02 AM EDT

CleanSpark Inc. (NASDAQ: CLSK) appointed co-founder Matt Schultz as chief executive officer following the resignation of Zachary Bradford from his roles as CEO and director, according to a company statement.

Schultz previously served as CEO and currently holds the position of executive chairman at the bitcoin mining company. He co-founded CleanSpark in March 2014 alongside Bradford, who had served as CEO since October 2019.

"As a founder who has always been actively involved, I care deeply about this company, our people, and our mission," Schultz said. "My focus stepping in as CEO is to ensure stability, continuity, and forward momentum during this time."

Bradford cited family considerations in his decision to step down. "The time has come for me to transition the role to the next leader and focus on my family," he said in the statement.

The Las Vegas-based company operates bitcoin mining facilities across the United States. Schultz led the company's initial growth in the energy sector and participated in raising capital for the bitcoin mining business expansion.

CleanSpark maintains its existing strategic plans and expects to report fiscal year 2025 results in November. The company's management team will remain in place following the leadership transition.

The appointment takes effect immediately, with the company reaffirming its focus on bitcoin mining operations and data center development.
