Cineverse unveils Matchpoint Hex entertainment classification system

April 20, 2026 9:36 AM EDT

Cineverse (NASDAQ: CNVS) announced Matchpoint Hex, a technology system designed to classify film and television content based on emotional metadata, at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.

The system uses what the company calls the Human Experience Classification System (HECS), which organizes emotions, feelings, moods, and vibes into a structured hierarchy for machine-readable format. Hex operates as an intelligence layer above Cineverse's Matchpoint digital supply chain platform.

The technology integrates with Cineverse's existing products including the recently acquired IndiCue, Matchpoint Dispatch, Blueprint, Insights, and the C360 advertising platform. The system aims to enable content discovery, programming automation, and contextual advertising based on emotional content rather than traditional genre classifications.

"Initially developed as a key component of our award-winning Search & Discovery tool, cineSearch, this emotional intelligence layer is now being applied across all of our technology offerings," said Tony Huidor, Cineverse President of Technology and Chief Product Officer.

Hex leverages the company's Hex Origin dataset, formerly known as cineCore, which contains metadata for over two million titles. The system processes content through classification pipelines and vector intelligence infrastructure to create what the company describes as emotional metadata.

The technology is designed to work across streaming services, studios, distributors, and FAST channel operators using the Matchpoint platform. Cineverse positions the system as infrastructure for AI-powered media applications in the streaming industry.

Cineverse operates as an entertainment technology company and studio, distributing over 71,000 films, series, and podcasts across various platforms. The company develops technology solutions for content management and distribution in the video streaming industry.
