Aware Inc. (NASDAQ: AWRE) announced the launch of Intelligent Liveness, a biometric authentication technology that combines passive and active verification methods for identity verification.
The Burlington, Massachusetts-based company made the announcement at Identity Week America 2025. The technology aims to reduce false negatives by 50% and decrease capture time from 3-4 seconds to under one second, according to the company's statement.
Intelligent Liveness uses machine learning models to detect spoofing attempts while maintaining user experience without additional actions required from users. The system addresses identity verification needs across finance, healthcare, government, and travel sectors.
"The future of identity is about balance – balancing trust and usability, speed and security, compliance and customer experience," said Ajay Amlani, CEO of Aware.
The company stated that the technology can compress research and development timelines from 9-12 months to three weeks, enabling faster responses to emerging spoofing techniques. The solution includes capabilities for real-time spoof detection and compliance support for industry standards.
Dr. Mohamed Lazzouni, CTO of Aware, described the technology as designed to be retrained quickly in response to new spoofing techniques while remaining transparent to users.
Aware provides biometric identity and authentication solutions through its Awareness Platform. The company is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, and trades on NASDAQ under the ticker AWRE.
