Yum China appoints Zhe Wei to board of directors

Yum China Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: YUMC) announced the appointment of Zhe (David) Wei to its board of directors, effective August 6, 2025. The board has expanded to 13 directors, with 11 independent members.
Wei serves as founding partner and chairman of Vision Knight Capital, a private equity fund manager focused on China investments. He previously held executive roles at Alibaba.com Limited from 2007 to 2011, including chief executive officer and executive director. The company was owned by Alibaba Group.
From 2002 to 2006, Wei served as president of B&Q (China) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Kingfisher PLC. He also worked as chief financial officer from 2000 to 2002 and served as chief representative for Kingfisher's China sourcing office from 2003 to 2006.
Wei currently holds non-executive director positions at PCCW Ltd., JNBY Design Limited, and Sansure Biotech Co., Ltd.. He also serves as an independent director of Oriental Pearl Group Co., Ltd.
His previous board experience includes positions at Leju Holdings Limited, OneSmart International Education Group Limited, Zall Smart Commerce Group Ltd., and Polestar Automotive Holding UK PLC. Wei holds a bachelor's degree in international business management from Shanghai International Studies University.
"David brings deep insights in global and China consumer sectors and significant leadership experience in digital and e-commerce," said Yum China Chairman Fred Hu in a statement.
Yum China operates over 16,000 restaurants under six brands across more than 2,400 cities in China, according to the company's press release.
