Western Alliance Bank promotes Jake Smith to director role
Western Alliance Bank announced Jake Smith has been promoted to director within the bank's Public and Nonprofit Finance Group. The group provides financing solutions to municipalities, local governments and nonprofit organizations.
Smith previously served as vice president and underwriting supervisor for the same group, where he covered municipal issuers throughout the United States and structured financing for municipal and nonprofit borrowers.
Based in Denver, Smith brings nearly 10 years of investment banking and public finance experience focused on general government, utility and special purpose issuers. Before joining Western Alliance in early 2024, he worked as vice president at Piper Sandler & Co., specializing in capital sourcing for city and local governments, municipal utility issuers, and special districts.
"Jake's extensive experience in structuring and underwriting debt obligations issued to finance new development or redevelopment secured by lease revenue, tax revenue, general obligation, special assessment and more brings valuable insights and skill in putting together deals for our Public and Nonprofit Finance customers," said Monika Suarez, managing director of the Municipal Finance, Nonprofit Finance and Multifamily Housing Finance groups at Western Alliance Bank.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver and a Master of Science in Finance from Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
Western Alliance Bank operates with more than $85 billion in assets and provides commercial banking solutions and consumer products nationwide. The information was disclosed in a company press release.
