TowneBank appoints Richard Cullen to board of directors

TowneBank (NASDAQ: TOWN) announced the appointment of Richard Cullen to its board of directors, according to a company statement.



Cullen served as counselor to Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin from 2022 to 2026. He previously held the position of Virginia Attorney General in 1997 under Governor George Allen and served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 1991, appointed by President George H.W. Bush.



Cullen spent his legal career at McGuireWoods LLP, where he served as chairman for over a decade. The law firm operates with approximately 1,000 lawyers across offices in the United States and London. In February, Cullen will join Torridon Law PLLC as a partner, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm.



"His extensive and impressive experience in both the public and private sectors and his proven leadership abilities will make him a key contributor to the continued success of our Company," said G. Robert Aston Jr., executive chairman of TowneBank.



TowneBank operates over 70 banking offices across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The company completed its acquisition of Dogwood State Bank on January 12, 2026. With this acquisition, TowneBank would have total pro forma assets of approximately $22 billion as of December 31, 2025.



Founded in 1999, the bank provides banking and financial services through various affiliated companies including wealth management, insurance, mortgage, and real estate services.
