Talen Energy announces executive leadership changes and contract extensions

Talen Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: TLN) announced leadership changes as part of succession and retention planning on December 15, 2025.
The company's board of directors extended Chief Executive Officer Mark "Mac" McFarland's employment agreement through February 2027 with one-year evergreen renewals. McFarland resigned as president but remains CEO and a board member.
Terry L. Nutt was appointed president, effective immediately. Nutt previously served as chief financial officer and will continue in that role temporarily to assist with the transition until the company files its annual report for fiscal year 2025.
Cole Muller was named chief financial officer, effective immediately. Brad Berryman was appointed chief operating officer and Dale Lebsack was named chief asset development officer, both effective immediately.
The board extended employment agreements for Nutt, Muller, Berryman and Lebsack through February 2027 with one-year evergreen renewal options. The board also extended contracts for the chief administrative officer, chief development officer and chief commercial officer through February 2027.
Ed Casulli was appointed chief nuclear officer, effective immediately.
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary John Wander provided notice of his intent to retire at the end of June 2026. The company stated Wander's retirement is not due to any disagreement with company operations, policies or practices.
The company noted that none of the newly appointed executives were selected under arrangements with other parties and no reportable transactions or family relationships exist between the appointees and other company directors or officers.
