SiTime adds Faraj Aalaei to board of directors

SiTime Corporation (NASDAQ: SITM) appointed Faraj Aalaei, founder, chairman and CEO of Cognichip, Inc., to its board of directors.
Aalaei founded and scaled semiconductor companies Centillium and Aquantia. He holds multiple patents and an honorary doctorate in Engineering, with degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology, the University of Massachusetts, and the University of New Hampshire. In 2024, he received the United States Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
"Faraj is a proven entrepreneur, having envisioned, built and successfully scaled several semiconductor businesses," said Rajesh Vashist, chairman and CEO of SiTime. The company reported that its communications, enterprise and data center business segment grew over 100% year-over-year in each of the past six quarters through Q3.
Aalaei developed technology including the first optical ring communication system and solutions for cable modems, broadband DSL and autonomous driving Ethernet communications. "SiTime is uniquely positioned in the semiconductor industry, focused on addressing the timing complexity of the next generation technologies, especially AI," Aalaei said.
SiTime manufactures semiconductor MEMS programmable timing solutions and reports shipping more than 4 billion devices. The company is based in Santa Clara, California.
