Renata Simril joins Steel Sports advisory board
Steel Partners Holdings L.P. (OTCQX: SPLP) announced that Renata Simril has joined the advisory board of Steel Sports, the company's youth sports subsidiary.
Simril serves as president and CEO of the LA84 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports youth sports participation and coach education. The LA84 Foundation was established from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
"Renata is one of the most respected voices in youth sports and community leadership," said Warren Lichtenstein, executive chairman of Steel Partners Holdings L.P. and founder of Steel Sports. "She shares our belief that sports can transform lives and build stronger communities."
Steel Sports was created in 2011 as a subsidiary of Steel Partners Holdings L.P. The organization focuses on youth sports development and coaching through what it calls The Steel Coaching System.
"I'm honored to join Steel Sports and support its incredible mission of putting kids first," Simril stated. "Sports have the power to shape character, build leadership, and teach life lessons."
Martin Brown, president of Steel Sports, said Simril's appointment brings value to the advisory board through her understanding of the youth sports landscape.
Under Simril's leadership, the LA84 Foundation has expanded its programs across Southern California. She also founded and serves as president of the Play Equity Fund. Her career includes roles in public service, media, and real estate development.
Steel Partners Holdings L.P. operates as a diversified global holding company with investments in industrial products, financial services, energy, supply chain management, and youth sports, according to the company's statement.
