Ondas Networks adds rail executive Brent Laing to board

Ondas Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: ONDS) announced that Brent Laing has joined the board of its Ondas Networks subsidiary as an independent member and strategic advisor. The appointment aims to support adoption of the dot16 wireless protocol in North America's rail industry.

Laing brings experience from senior executive positions at Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National, two Class 1 railroads. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and was named the 2023 RT&S Engineer of the Year.

The Association of American Railroads Wireless Communications Committee announced in September that dot16, developed by Ondas Networks, will serve as the upgrade path for the legacy 160 MHz LMR voice network. The protocol has already been adopted for the 900 MHz and 450 MHz networks.

"Brent's deep understanding of railroad infrastructure and his credibility across the Class 1 community will be instrumental in accelerating adoption of dot16 as the new standard for mission-critical rail communications," said Eric Brock, chairman and CEO of Ondas Holdings.

Ondas Networks provides private wireless solutions based on the IEEE 802.16 standard for industrial markets, with a focus on rail communications infrastructure. The dot16 platform is designed to replace legacy narrowband systems with broadband-capable networks supporting train control, diagnostics, and safety technologies.
