Nuvalent appoints Ron Squarer to board of directors

Nuvalent Inc. (NASDAQ: NUVL) announced the appointment of Ron Squarer to its board of directors. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focuses on developing targeted therapies for kinase targets in cancer.



Squarer brings more than 30 years of experience in oncology drug development and commercialization. He most recently served as board chair of Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, which Ono Pharmaceuticals acquired in 2024. He also served as chief executive officer of Array Biopharma, overseeing the research, development, and commercialization of oncology treatments before Pfizer acquired the company in 2019.



Earlier in his career, Squarer held positions with Hospira, a pharmaceutical and medical device company, and served as senior vice president of global corporate and business development at Mayne Pharma. He also held leadership roles at Pfizer and SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in the U.S. and Europe.

Squarer currently serves as board chair of ADC Therapeutics and as a board member at Travere Therapeutics. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
