NKGen Biotech appoints dementia expert Bruce Miller to advisory board
NKGen Biotech Inc. (OTC: NKGN) announced the appointment of Bruce L. Miller, M.D. to its Scientific Advisory Board. Miller serves as the A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished Professor in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he directs the Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center and founded the Global Brain Health Institute.
The clinical-stage biotechnology company focuses on developing natural killer cell therapeutics. Miller brings expertise in Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, and other neurocognitive disorders to the Santa Ana, California-based company.
Miller has published more than 2,000 peer-reviewed articles and authored books including "The Behavioral Neurology of Dementia" and "Frontotemporal Dementia." He has contributed to research collaborations with the Tau Consortium and the Bluefield Foundation, which support development of therapies for tauopathies and progranulin-mediated frontotemporal dementia.
"We are honored to welcome Dr. Miller to our Scientific Advisory Board," said Paul Y. Song, M.D., Chairman and CEO of NKGen Biotech. Song noted that Miller's expertise will inform the company's clinical and scientific priorities as it continues its Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating troculeucel, an autologous NK cell therapy candidate, in individuals with moderate Alzheimer's disease.
The company also plans to explore troculeucel's use in frontotemporal dementia, where it has observed signals in patients treated under expanded access, according to the press release statement.
