MicroVision names Laura Peterson to board, Mark Spitzer retires

MicroVision Inc. (NASDAQ: MVIS) appointed Laura Peterson to its board of directors and announced the retirement of board member Mark Spitzer, according to a company statement.
Peterson brings over 30 years of executive leadership experience in robotics and aerospace industries. She previously served as board director and chief executive officer of Palladyne AI (PDYN), where she led a strategic restructuring. Peterson also served nearly eight years on the board of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), guiding the company through its recent sale transaction.
During her 20-year tenure at Boeing, Peterson held senior executive positions across Boeing Commercial Airplanes aircraft sales, airplane production and supplier management, strategy, international operations, and Boeing Defense, Space and Security divisions. She holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University.
Peterson previously served on the board of Air Transport Services Group, a global air cargo transportation and logistics company, for nearly eight years.
"Laura's rich background in operational leadership, international business development, global strategy, government relations, homeland security, and M&A will be invaluable to MicroVision as we execute on our strategic plan," said Sumit Sharma, MicroVision's chief executive officer.
Mark Spitzer, who joined the MicroVision board in 2020, is retiring from his position. Board Chairman Bob Carlile noted that Spitzer's background was instrumental as the board guided the company through a transformation in product and industry focus.
MicroVision develops perception solutions for autonomy and mobility applications, including lidar hardware and perception software for robotics, automated warehouses, agriculture, and automotive systems.
