Herc Holdings elects two new independent directors to board

Herc Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HRI) announced the election of two new independent directors to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2026.
John Olin, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation, and Patrick Shannon, former senior vice president and chief financial officer at Allegion plc, will join the company's board and serve on its audit committee.
The appointments are part of the company's board succession planning process. James Browning, the current audit committee chair, will retire in May 2026 at the annual shareholders meeting in accordance with the board's director retirement policy.
The board will temporarily expand from eight to 10 members with these appointments and will be reduced to nine members following Browning's retirement.
Olin currently serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation. He previously held the same position at Harley-Davidson and has experience in financial management roles at companies including Kraft Foods, Oscar Mayer Foods and Miller Brewing Company. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Shannon previously served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Allegion, a security products provider, and held similar roles at Ingersoll Rand and AGCO Corporation. He currently serves on the boards of Astec Industries Inc. and MasterBrand Inc. Shannon earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Mercer University.
Herc Holdings operates as an equipment rental supplier through its Herc Rentals subsidiary, with 612 locations across North America and 2024 pro forma total revenues of approximately $5.1 billion, according to the company's press release.
